As an avid reader of science books, magazines, etc. I can tell you that much of it is too technical (at least for this layman) or too dry, or too niche. You have the Goldilocks touch.
Thank you; means a lot to me! 🙏 Biotech is a field of stories and drama, but there is a balance between explaining the science on a deep enough level without losing the reader. My hope for this content is that it provides a biotech foundation for the laymen so that anyone who is interested in biotech can understand the fundamentals. The best way I have found to teach biotech is through stories. And through those stories, I think there are lessons that everyone can learn, including people who are already experts in the field. Often, experts in the field are extremely knowledgeable about one specific area. I have been lucky with my background to see many hundreds of inventions ranging from every therapeutic realm you can think of, so I am able to conceptualize and explain biotech on a level that I think few people can. I’m glad you are enjoying the content so far :)
I'm wondering if it would be best to wait to start a textbook publication process until after this initial full set of The Lead Compound content published on Substack... I need to look into all of this - admittedly, the ins-and-outs of publishing is a bit out of my wheelhouse haha
Great beginning article. You’re a true wordsmith and should strongly consider turning this into a book. Every pharmaceutical company could use it as a manual to educate and orient employees.
Thank you for the feedback, Mike! I would love to turn this into a book (something I still need to look into). I love the idea of it helping educate and orient employees at pharmaceutical companies. I’ve contemplated it being something I could present at universities too. I’m excited to see how everything develops with it :)

Your skill set (knowledge, experience, writing ability) is rare. Monetize it baby!
I’m trying (and I REALLY appreciate the encouragement)!
It’s funny, when I first showed my wife what I was writing, she was very adamant about me publishing it as a book.
How about turning it into a standard setting text book with beaucoup royalties.
